Hard Work and Games

jcfialaWell, yesterday was kind of fun.
On friday a nice local company that does trash dumpsters put one in Trixii's front yard so we can start to muck out her house. Her bedroom is a total wreck, full of half or totally destroyed furniture, and there's also a bunch of romance novels that needed to be thrown out. (Trust me.) And then there's all the trash laying on the floor of the garage, books and videotapes and food trash soaking in garage floor gunk.
So, we headed out there on Saturday morning. Luckily, it had been rainy and cool, so it was nice weather for hard labor. We got to work, dragging stuff out of her room (and finishing the demolition on some of them), and the dumpster started to fill up pretty quickly. Good hard labor, and I managed not to injure my back this time, which was good. We even had room for a couple of wheelbarrow-fulls of stuff from the garage, although it looks like we need a new dumpster as this one's packed. It felt good to get a lot of work done, though.
After that we stopped by home to relax and cool down, and then we headed off to Valhallas Game Center. The store announced on Friday that they were going to be closing at the end of this month and having a sale, so I wanted to go up, pay my respects, and see what the sale was like... ending up getting the 'Buy $400 worth of stuff at 50% off' deal. :) We got a ton of neat new board games, including Descent, which is a D&D like boardgame with about 80 plastic figures. Woot! I also got the players guides to Faerun and Eberron, True Sorcery, and the Atlas of the Walking Dead. I was surprised, after the fact, to discover that Tammy for once had bought most of the games. *laugh*
After that we went into the back to join up with a board/rail gaming group that Tammy hangs out with. They were playing late (due to the fact that this was the last time to play there), and brough out a game called 'The Scepter of Z-something'. It's an interesting magic-styled building game, where you aquire enchanted gems that give you magical power to buy/create more artifacts and the like. I really liked it, and when another of the players announced that he was selling his German copy (with english annotations) for half the English price, I quickly lept at it. I lost - last place - but had a good time anyway.
