Convention Swag
Sep. 11th, 2005 05:52 pmHey all.
Well, I meant to do this earlier, but I've had the world's busiest week. Again.
Sometimes I take on a bit too much.
So, here's an overview of what I got at the con:
My Live With Master
-- Fantasticly different game about playing the stunted minions of a fearsome master. I'm hoping I can try this sometime - it's very different in rules and style than anything else I've played.
Monte Cook presents The Year's Best D20
-- Interesting. A supplement, including classes, magic, monsters, and special rules, culled from some of the best d20 work out there. And I gotta agree- having looked through it- that it's all very solid stuff.
Call of Cthulhu: Secrets of New York
-- Haven't had a chance to read it yet, but it looks very cool.
Fright Night: Haunted House
-- Looks like it's 'How to play Horror of Hill House in d20'. It doesn't look directly like it uses d20 Modern (which is what I expected) - it contains a number of 10-level classes that represent different psychic architypes. I haven't read it much, but I think I recognize the author's name. Maybe I can con him into bribing me into doing a review. :)
Mutants Down Under
-- It was in a free pile! And I wasn't sure if I had it. Giant mutant kangaroo ninja! Who can't like it?
Complete Book of Eldrich Might
-- On sale, about $12. Very cool stuff. But I'm a sucker to picking things up on sale.
Grave of Heaven: Urseia (BESM version)
-- I already had a copy - helped playtest it a lot. But picking up a second copy for another player on sale was irresistable.
Fantasy Hero: Grimoire
-- On sale for about $5. I think this one I'd have rather picked up on PDF - it seems to consist of a lot of spells, statted out... something that would work really well as a PDF. I'm glad I didn't get it at full price, but this wasn't too bad.
Palladium Fantasy Overload: Land of the Damned One: Chaos Lands; Western Empire; Old Ones; Baalgor Wastelands
-- On sale at the con, for about $5 each. And most of it written by Bill Coffin, who's been known to come up with some really good background material.
Haven: City of Violence
-- On sale in a $1 box. Always been curious - picked it up.
The Canting Crew (by Gary Gygax)
-- Another $1 box item. why not? Not entirely sure what it is, but I was curious.
Yay!
