Death Sucks
Apr. 21st, 2004 03:29 pmDamn.
Well, I've had a death in the family... or an associated family. Thomas Taylor, father of two girls who I grew up with and the husband of one of my Mom's best friends, died yesterday. It was pretty much completely out of the blue - he'd been the very picture of health as far as I could tell. Apparently he had some sort of stroke.
So, here I am getting ready to travel to Maryland for the funeral. It'll be hard, I'm sure - both Terry and Eileen are good friends, and they'll both be pretty broken up, and I have no clue what to say about it.
I didn't really know him very well. As is usual when you're growing up, you get to know your friends' mothers, but not their fathers - when you're hanging around with your friends is when he's off earning his wage. (I know it's not that way for everyone, but I grew up in a fairly classic neighborhood.) So, it's a hard thing to go do.
But it's got to be done, and off I go... or will go, come Friday. Looks like Tammy can come too, which is nice.
*sigh*
