Well, it looks like the shuttle Columbia has broken up and been destroyed on reentry this morning. They don't know why it happened yet, but the only sign of the shuttle is a bunch of debris falling through the sky at north Texas.
So please take a moment and pray for the lives of the Columbia crew.
Columbia is the oldest of the space shuttles - I vaguely remember watching it take off the first time, while I was still in school. Here's a history of the shuttle's life. It's had it's regular upgrades, it looks, but you've got to wonder if this would have happened with a newer machine.
On the other hand, there was the first Israeli astronaut onboard, and you've got to wonder if this was some sort of terrorist attack, although lord only knows how.
But still, it's a very sad day for all of us. Space is the last frontier, and a few of our dreams died this morning.
