Well, more of a general catch-up post, really.

The week before Christmas was a minor week of stress. First off I had a big install of a project I'd been working on for a couple of months Monday night. I was able to do it all from my home computer, but I was up working until 12:30, and then got an emergency call at 3:30, which meant the next day was an unpleasant haze of wanting to sleep. This basically killed my Tuesday night game, and I was fairly tired still on Wednesday night.

And then Thursday was going well. I came in to work early to talk over something with our French office before they went on vacation for the rest of the year, cleaned up a few things, started a new project that doesn't look like it will take that long to finish... and then got a call from Trixii that my wife was very dizzy, and she was taking her to the hospital. Ugh. I was glad I was done early, so I could rush over and see her... except by then she was in with the Doctor, and I was only able to get in some good pacing.

Took her home, she was feeling much better, and the dizziness never returned, really. They said her white cell count was high, so maybe it was some odd bug. :(

Friday was nice. A little light shopping here and there, and some gift-wrapping. I'm a guy - let's face it, my standard for wrapping is making sure you don't know what's inside the paper. My wife does these beautiful beribboned packages... really, there's no comparison. I think it's a class they make girls take in high school or something. :)

Saturday sucked, but mostly because it started out by going to the Hospital for a follow-up visit. They wanted to test some more of her blood, and this apparently requires three hours - half an hour to wait to be interviewed by a nurse, an hour to wait until it's time to give the blood, and an hour or so of waiting for them to test the blood. I'm not completely sure where all the time went exactly, but at a quarter per half hour on the meter, we dropped six of them. On the other hand, if you start the day with a non-serious trip to the hospital, everything else pretty much has to be better from then on. We went out and had lunch with Trixii, and then went and saw King Kong.

King Kong is approximately 30-45 mintues too long, in my opinion. Trixii and Tammy think it's about an hour too long. In either case, there are entire scenes that could have been cut from this movie that would have made it a better movie, in my humble opinion. Not because those scenes were bad, but because the movie was too long. But 14-year old boys the world over are going to be telling their parents how cool the movie is ad nauseum - it's just about perfect for that age bracket.

After that it was Christmas eve time - we went home, relaxed, and watched 'Muppet Christmas Carol', which I think is the best Christmas movie ever. Ever!

Christmas itself was nice. Trixii stayed the night in the guest bedroom, and so in the morning we made up a sheet of Orange Rolls, did up a pot of coffee (Christmas flavored - I didn't like it so much at home), and started opening gifts, which was fun. I got some cool stuff, mostly via my Amazon wish list, which is my favorite way to keep track of what I want. There's The Encyclopedia of Fantastic Victoriana, the Revised Companion to Narnia, and Origami Design Secrets: Mathematical Methods for an Ancient Art, which really looks a little intimidating. Movie-wise was lighter this year, but that's fine - I have trouble watching the DVDs I already have. But Muppet Show, Marx Brothers, and Utena are always happy things. :)

And that left Monday for relaxing after the fact. We got to leave the house, had a bunch of soup and salad for lunch, and did a little light shopping at Wal Mart for a few necessities. Nothing much, just enjoying life.

And now, we're back to work.

That Victoriana book looks kick ass, John. I'm tempted to get that myself. I see the author's got a pulp version on the way as well.

Not only is it Kick Ass, but it's also at least as bullet-resistant as HERO 5th. Possibly more. :)

Note that this is the same guy who did the annotation books for 'The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen'.

Hey, I can gift wrap, but not them beautiful concoctions you see sometimes. My gift-wrapping is like your's - making sure you can't see what's inside the paper... but it also involves lots of tape. ^_^

So, I can say that there isn't "a class they make girls take in high school or something." *G*

*HUGS* Glad your wife is doing okay... and that you enjoyed your time off. :)

I think it was my dad who showed me how to wrap gifts prettily.

Well, as a matter of fact, there is sort of a class - it's called working in a department store in the summer. . .
