However - about a month ago they announced that they were going to start charging organizers for each group (with the idea that each organizer would then collect the monthly fee from the members). This has raised a bit of a hue and cry, and a lot of the groups are shutting down pretty quickly, as they make plans to move to other websites (like yahoo).
So...well, I'm willing to try it out a little. So I signed up to try out running the Denver Boardgame meetup. We'll see how this works out - I can always cancel out.
(And I should be able to run more than one group - I've offered a few existing organizers for me to become the de facto organizer and let them ride on my Boardgames subscription.) We'll see.
