I've been spending a lot of time in bookstores lately. Not to buy books in, but to hang out - Borders has lovely soft chairs, sugar-free coffee choices, and a fine selection of books to browse, not to mention free parking. My local library has the chairs, the books, and the parking, but not as many books and is closed three days out of the week.

It's relaxing - I pull up a chair, and get in some studying, or borrow a book from their collection and read it. Often it's a graphic novel - Borders (like other chain bookstores) have gotten big into GNs and the like, and don't mind you flipping through one as long as you put it back untouched. I'm quite careful.

I try not to do it too much - sometimes it feels like I'm in a waiting room, waiting for my life to get underway. And sometimes I get in the mood to create something, and other than pen-and-paper, I don't have the ability to create a lot of things there.

But I keep working at it. There's one or two promising jobs in the air, and eventually one of them will crack for me. Or so I keep telling myself.
