In which I am Interviewed, and survive...
Dec. 5th, 2003 09:10 amWell, yesterday was a bit harrowing for me. I had two interviews set up on the same day, one with an Architectural Engineering firm, and the second with an east-coast firm (via the telephone).
I was really really nearvous about the in-person interview. I hadn't really had one since 1995, so I was almost obsessively studying Knock 'em Dead 2003 and making notes as to things to bring up, and questions to ask.
Which is good, I think, because the interview went really well. The guy interviewing me was really nice, and once I realized that my anxiety level went really low because now I knew that I was prepared, and it was okay. (If anything, I may have been overprepared!) So the interview went well. I'm hoping I get called in soon to the second interview.
After that the phone interview went pretty well, I think. I got my first job through a phone interview, so I'm a lot less uptight about them. There's lots of advantages - you can be in very comfortable clothes, you can fidget as much as you like, and you can have your notes spread out around you to help out. I think that one went pretty well too.
I don't know if either of these will lead to a job offer yet - I'm hoping the first one will, because I'd really rather not have to move - I'm very happy with the Denver area. But we'll see.
But I'll keep working at getting more interviews in the meantime - can't count on my first interview producing a job offer, after all, as nice as that would be.
And tomorrow's my Birthday! Woot!
