Potter III
Jun. 23rd, 2003 09:11 pmWell, things are going pretty well.
Getting the Harry Potter book was interesting. First I stopped by a few bookstores on my way home from work, seeing if there was anywhere I could get a copy. The first one, the Barnes & Nobles in Denver West, said they'd be handing out tickets for a copy at nine, and then selling at midnight. Fair enough.
I came back at about 8:10 that evening, to find that there was already a line in front of the store. I popped into line while Tammy went off to get us some good stuff from the Cold Stone Creamery. She got herself some non-fat blueberry, and got me some lemon italian ice. It was fun, chatting with some of the people... one of the folks near me was also a fan of Clive Cussler's Dirk Pitt novels, and we discussed them for a while. Got a ticket and went home.
I returned around 11ish. The store was already crowded. I grabbed a comic book to read and tried to find a place to sit, but all of the chairs and benches were already taken. Once midnight arrived, they started selling. Since I'd arrived so soon, I had a fairly low-numbered ticket and it wasn't that long until I had a copy. But then on my way out I saw they still had tickets, so I got another one and waited until about 1:20 so I could get a second copy for my friend Trixii, who also is a fan of the series. Then I went home and slept.
Stupid cat. Jingoro seems to think he should start crying in the morning if he isn't fed by 6:00 AM. I've started chucking him in the bathroom when he starts, so hopefully he'll realize crying doesn't get him fed any quicker.
Otherwise, the weekend went well. Tammy and I got some thin boards to use as temporary counters over our new cabinets, as it's probably going to be a week or two until we get new ones. We also gave blood, and then picked up the new Tomb Raider game for Tammy, along with a promotional Lara Croft bobblehead that came free with it. We mostly spent the weekend taking it easy other than that, although I did stop by my friend Joe Coleman and bought a bunch of comics off of him. I also got a copy of 'The Mad Goblin' by Phillip Jose Farmer, which is supposed to be a good Doc Savage Pastiche. I'm looking forward to reading it.
My mom arrives on Wednesday. I can't wait! :)
Addendum: Went by a jeweler today to have my ring resized. I've lost enough weight that it now falls off my finger easily.
