1) French Keyboards use a azer layout, not qwerty. They also have the numbers as the shift-characters... if I want to type 1, I have to hit Shift-&. However, since I can touch-type, I just tell MSWindows to pretend it's an American keyboard and work without looking at my hands.

2) French food is generally not as sweet as American. I had a 'Apple/Chocolate crumble' as dessert with lunch, and although there was sweetness, it wasn't as overpowerly sweet as an American dessert would be.

3) French cars are, as a rule, smaller than american ones. Also, the back seat of the cars I've ridden in have been three side-by-side bucket seats instead of the 'bench' arrangement in american cars.

4) The Alarm clock is apparently part of the TV. This will help me not to oversleep as much. However, they start work later (and end work later), so it wasn't too bad to sleep until 9:30 AM.

5) They have a single-serving Espresso machine here that takes pre-measured 'lozenges' of coffee in little filter packs. It's very good, and a little addictive. I wonder how much these cost here?

6) People *really* like to shake hands here. Everyone seems to say hello and shake hands. It's a little surprising.

So, life goes on. Had a small dinner in the hotel restaurant, then fiddled with things at the room and tried to sleep. Woke up at 4am, and then called home because it was 8pm there, which was nice.
