A Pox on Both your Routers!
Feb. 9th, 2003 10:11 pmArgh!
There's nothing more annoying than something not working when it should. Sometime late Friday night, my connection to the internet went from it's usual quick broadband pace to that of a very slowwwww snail. Grumble, but maybe it'll be better in the morning.
In the morning, it is not better. I call AT&T broadband support, and am told it's a problem in the Denver area. Grumble, but maybe it'll be better in the afternoon.
That afternoon: It's not better. I finally call at night, and this helpful guy on the phone helps me identify that it's the router that's the problem - when I'm connected to the cable modem directly, I have no problems.
In the morning, I call the router people. I'm told to try updating the firmware. I update the firmware - no dice.
I go off to K-mart which is closing and buy cheap lego.
Then I head back and try installing different network stuff on my computer. Finally it works! Much rejoicing! But my weekend feels pretty bad, because of how mad I got over the weekend. Sigh.
On the good side, I lost another 2 pounds last Thursday, which means I've lost a total of 30 pounds! If I'm lucky, I'll have lost my initial 36 pounds before February is over.
GenghisCon this weekend - lots of work to do. Sigh.
