Life goes on...
Feb. 2nd, 2003 11:29 amWell, other than the space program (and the lives of seven astronauts) coming to a screeching halt, yesterday was pretty good.
Tammy and I got up early and headed in to the gym to excersize, which went well. They've got a setup where you can watch one of seven or so tv stations while using treadmills and stationary bikes and a like, using headphones to decide which one to listen to.
After that we rushed to the China King and filled up on salad and Chinese food. Then it was time to give blood, and we found out that after this donation we would have donated a total of one gallon of blood each. We got cute little '1 gallon' pins for it.
That done, we headed off to talk to Joe Coleman. He had a laserdisk player he didn't need that much. I already have an LD player, but the fact that his automatically flips to the other side of the disk was tempting, as was the low $60 price. I also got a few other LDs as well, particularly some old serials (Joe's big into old serials) and a couple of Charlie Chan movies.
After that, since we were in mid-to-east Denver anyway, we hunted up a friend of Tammy's that she wasn't able to call, due to said friend's phone being out. We found the building, slipped inside the security door by looking friendly, and then basically listened at doors on the sixth floor until we found the one with four rambunctious kids behind it. We talked for a bit and then went off.
On the way back we decided to stop by a Hobby Lobby that's next to the Black and Read. Hobby Lobby is a chain of huge hobby and craft stores - I'm on the lookout for 1:24 scale cars for this huge Car Wars game I'm planning in June at a con here. Black & Read is this huge used book and game store that I'm always willing to browse. I browsed, and found volume 1 of the 'Cartoon History of the Universe', which is always fun.
After that it was a trip to Red Lobster - Salmon New Orleans for me, Shrimp Feast for Tammy - and then home to relax.
