New Term: Birthday Spam
Dec. 6th, 2007 02:16 pmBirthday spam is when you receive 20 emails, all of them from various web forums you belong to, all of which say:
"Hello %s,
We at %s would like to wish you a happy birthday today!"
With the first %s replaced with your login name, and the second one replaced with the forum name.
It's all automatic - there's no care or thought about any of them. Technically, they all came from the same guy - the person who, several years ago, decided it'd be cute if the forum sent out a happy birthday message...
