I've been riding the bus for a few months now, and I love it! Let's count the reasons why...

1) I don't have to drive all day. Someone else drives, and I can relax, read a book, watch a video, or just stare out at the mountains as I go past them.
2) I don't have to pay for friggin' gas at $3.00/gallon.
3) The buses are nice touring buses - I take the regional from Denver to Boulder and back - and so they've got lots of comfy seats, and there's often extra room to spread out in.
4) Flexibility. Yesterday I rode with my wife to my bus stop, where she dropped me off, and then at the end of the day she picked me up and brought me home. Today I've got a study group, so I drove part-way along my busroute to where my group meets, hopped on the bus there, and at the end of the day the bus will drop me off where I need to be.
5) As a side effect, I'm not affecting the environment as much as when I drive to boulder - the bus is going there anyway.
6) Did I mention I get to read to and from work, instead of having to deal with traffic? Yay!
7) And I'd still love the bus if they didn't, but the company I work for pays for my bus tickets, so I'm even saving a lot of money.

Yay bus system!

Ahhh, I chose to drive in today and looked longingly at those buses in the HOV lane. I simply love the bus most days, but alas, I have stuff to do on the way home...

I do the same with the train here in Dallas. It's a 10-minute ride down the toll road to the station, 45 minutes into Downtown. Takes longer, but costs less. And I can nap if I feel like it.

Oh, yeah... light rail! I've ridden that train, it's very nice, I thought. Well, a few years ago it was nice, at least. ^_^

It still is, if a little crowded at times. They're building the line for the next one, going out to the Fair Park area (where many of our museums are and where the State Fair is held). If the schedule goes as planned, they should have a line out to my neighborhood by 2011. Which, by that time, it may not be my neighborhood any more, but it'll be nice for folks that live there.

Have you ever heard the Jonathan Richman song about riding the greyhound?
It is great! The Chorus:
Band: Your Crazy for takin the Bus!
Jonathan: Yeah I'm Crazy So? Whats the fuss?
Band: 2 whole weeks on that stinkin bus?
J: And I'll sleep fine!
J: You take the plane and I'll take the bus this time!
