Ah, the weekend. Finally, a chance to lay back and relax, to just enjoy being alive instead of running around like a madman to do so.

And how does the redblooded American lad enjoy being alive? That's right - he goes shopping.

In this case, I decided to hit 'cheapo discs'. It's been a while since I've bought a CD - the last one I think was the 'Lilo & Stitch' soundtrack, which was bought approximately five minutes after watching the end of the 'Lilo & Stitch' movie. How can you not enjoy space aliens, Hawaii, and Elvis? How?

Anyway, I felt like picking up some CDs, and I figured I'd hit a used store and see what's in. Cheapo Disks is a small Denver chain - they get in a good amount of used CDs and a small amount of used DVDs. Sometimes I've picked up anime there - it's usually worth a try if they've got volume one for fifteen dollars. (You don't often see volume 2 or higher at a used DVD store unless someone is dumping a collection for money. I figure, if the DVD is there it's because someone else bought volume 1, decided they didn't like it, and brought it in for some money.)

Browsing a music store can be fun. Here, it's a lot of fun, due to one enterprising employee who put little labels throughout the store saying what he thought of them. As an example, the divider for Elton John says 'Oh how the mighty have fallen (See Billy Joel)', while the divider for Billy Joel reads 'Oh how the mighty have fallen (See Elton John)'. That's enough to keep me browsing, and in the end I had to put some disks back.

So, what did I get?

The big one is 'Simon and Garfunkel: Collected Works'. I think I've still got one or two of the tapes from the cassette release of this, but it was cool enough that I wanted it on CD. And now I do. I also got 'Blues Traveler: four', 'Harry Connick Jr.: Harry Connick Jr.', 'ZZ Top: Greatest Hits', 'Carmen Sandiego, Out of this World', and a CD Single: 'The Cardigans: been it'. I'm not actually a fan of 'been it', but it has two remixes of 'lovefool', which I still think should be the english theme to Urusai Yatsura if it ever is played on US tv.

Go, good music, and all of it bought used. I'm upset with the various extreme positions that the Recording Industry has gotten into, and although the loss of the occasional new album that I would buy isn't going to bankrupt them, I'm still trying very hard not to buy new music. When they're willing to behave like adults, I'm willing to give them money. Until then, there's plenty of used CDs that are just as good as the new ones.

And now, I think I'm going to fade. I've been a good boy and done some dishes, and now I've got dry hands like nobody's business. This house is plumb empty of any soda at all, and I'm getting thirsty. See you all around!
