It's been an interesting weekend, so I'm going to try to not flood everyone's friends list by using one of those tags. Here goes:

Friday started early. Really early. Way back in January or so I had the idea of trying to get in on 100.3 FM's morning show. Each Friday morning they have what they call 'Live Audience Friday', where about a dozen listeners sit on the side, cheer, and participate in little games. I figured if I got on the show, I might be able to publicize myself. It turned out that they didn't have space until, well, May 14th. So Tammy and I showed up.

It was a lot of fun - getting to talk to these folks, hanging out with them, munching on the free breakfast, and playing the games. I was randomly picked for their everyday game, 'Boys against the Girls', where they ask the guy a bunch of girl-related questions, and the girl a bunch of guy-related ones. I'd played (and won) this game a few years ago, and did well this day too, correctly identifying Nexus and Crew as types of hair care products, and realizing that a Bolero jacket goes down to the ribs. I won a gift certificate to a low-carb food store, and a pair of tickets to some band named The Coors. Sounds like fun. :)

The rest of the weekend went well too. Opus Con was this weekend, a new Fantasy/Art convention in its second year here in Denver. Last year it wasn't nearly as well run this year, and the Dealers and Art rooms were both well stocked. (Tammy tried putting items in the art show, but she didn't sell any. She's not too disappointed - this was both her first time showing at a con, and there didn't seem to be a lot of bidding in the art room.)

I had a good time, going from one track to another. I found some new anime in the anime room, listened to some talk about computer art in the art track, saw some excellent models in another room, and drooled over much cool stuff in the dealer's room. I didn't spend that much on getting things - I think my major purchase of the weekend was a pair of CDs from The Bards, whose full name is too difficult to remember and pronounce. I haven't listened to them yet, but I look forward to it. I also picked up the first volumes of Tsubasa and XXX-holic, a pair of new manga series from Clamp that Del-Ray is publishing.

I'd like to take a moment and note that the Mariott Hotel in Denver at I-25 and Hampden, where the convention happened, had some of the most reasonably-priced hotel food I've ever seen. They weren't bad before, but this weekend they put out a pretty good spread for the attendees for good prices.

Today I've got a bit of a cold, and was feeling pretty miserable this morning, but now that I'm at work and going on I'm feeling better.
