Good Days

Well, the last couple of days went pretty well. Monday morning Tammy had an interview with Bonfils - she'd worked there as a temp job, and they seem interested in having her pernamently - apparently her supervisor loved her. :) So we're seeing if this job might be better than the Echostar one, which is currently being a pain because of Viacom taking their channels and going home - meaning Tammy has to explain why CBS, MTV and VH1 have gone poof! (It's kinda funny how VH1 and MTV seem to be in competition, when they're owned by the same company.)

I stayed at home and studied. It was beautiful out, so I put the cats into harnesses and let them run around on leads across the yard. They really enjoyed being outside, and I did too. (You can't leave them outside on their own, or they twist their leads around until they're caught, and then use the leverage to pop out of the harnesses!) When Tammy came back we went out for lunch at the Olive Garden, enjoying the all you can eat salad and soup meal, which is both cheap and very filling. And good for us. :)

That evening I went out to join my study group for MCSD certification, where we're starting with C# ASP.NET. It's interesting stuff, and the discussion went rather well. Unfortunately, while I was there my phone fell out of my bag, and I just assumed I hadn't taken it with me. When I got home I couldn't find my phone, and guessed it was at the library, but they were closed now.

The next morning Tammy and I sped back down there and picked it up, though, so that wasn't a problem. Then we went across the street to the grocery store - a really *nice* grocery store. Tempts me to drive down there to do all my shopping, but that's not practical with gas prices as they are.

That afternoon I had signed up for a Microsoft class/presentation on security that was up in Boulder. I drove up to it (it was at a movie theatre), and got there early. I wandered around a bit and had a hot dog for lunch. Mmm. The presentation was pretty good, I thought, and I took as good of notes as I could during it. During it I won a cute little calender/calculator/clock for knowing what Asymmetric and Symmetric encryption was. Yay math! :) At the end I then won a copy of Visual Basic .NET standard, which was really cool! Someone else actually won it, but they had it so they gave it back, and when they chose randomly again I won, which was really cool!

Feeling happy, I wandered over to Time Warp comics, which is this utterly cool comic and collectable shop in Boulder. I could have spent too much time there, but I was just waiting for traffic to die down. I got the first volume of Shutterbox, the third volume of One Piece (pirate humor!) and the last volume of Crimson (vampires!). And I got a six-inch Shirow figurine that looked neat. It turns out that it's based on the art my wife uses as a picture of her paladin in Living Greyhawk, so she was really happy I'd gotten it!

So, the week so far has been really good. Now I'm hoping and looking forward to getting some progress on the job front and doing more development in ASP.NET!
