Friday night I headed off to Valhallas for the start of a mini Living Greyhawk convention that was happening there. After a little confusion as to who was sitting at which table, I got settled in with my 6th level swashbuckler at a table that averaged out to an 8th level table - which meant that I was a bit bored and frustred with the badly written investigation half of the module, and then was scared for my life during the combat half of the module. I almost died there, and so did some of my tablemates. (One character - a 5th level cleric - did die, although the GM tried not to kill him. But he was reincarnated as a Half-elf, so that wasn't so bad.)

That done I headed home and printed out the LG modules I would be running on Saturday, and talked with Tammy. After staying up a bit too late, we went to bed.

In the morning we headed off to Gemini, and interesting restaurant with vegitarian options that is both near Valhallas and does breakfast. We spread books out on the booth we had while we ate, and I explained to Tammy how conversion worked. Confusingly enough, it looks like I still haven't gotten it right, either.. I think I didn't convert my strength-based longbow right. General consensus among LG players seems to be that if one more conversion comes along, we may all quit the campaign.

However, 'Eyes of the Beholder', the morning game I was playing in, was a blast. All sorts of little mini-puzzles to figure out, and once I got the 'trick' of the author, it began to be possible to anticipate the way to solve the puzzles. It was really kinda fun, although a random thing the GM has to handle seemed to be pretty hard for her.

That slot ran late for most of the tables, so after Tammy got free from her table, we ran off to a local Chinese buffet that had reopened. I'm not sure why they closed for a few months, but Tammy's guess of a fire of some sort sounds like a good possibility. The food was good, and plentiful, and involved enough vegitables that I think I had a healthy enough meal.

After lunch we played in other games - I ran a beginners module that went well, but which was pretty hairy there for a little while and ended early. My wife was still playing, so I took a nap in the car. After the nap, she decided she didn't want to play the third slot, so we drove up to Hobby Lobby/Black & Read for a little shopping. Hobby Lobby has lots of arts and crafts stuff, so she loves it, and Black & Read is a combination new/used books & music store, along with game books as well, so I love it. It was hard to love that night, though, as a pair of screaming little kids ran through the store, completely ignoring their parents' idle tries at quieting them. I eventually just gave up and left the store. After dinner at a sub place, we returned to find it much quieter, and I found some nice cheap books.

Sunday morning we headed out for the 'Race for the Cure'. We were part of a group - the Mickaela foundation - and we couldn't find them for the longest time. We were really under-prepared for how huge it all was too - the light rail trains were packed, and we were late to arrive, and we just couldn't find them. We shrugged and joined in on the family walk anyway, which luckily doubled back on itself, letting us spot our group coming back the other way by the yellow shirts they were wearing. We happily joined up and had a nice short walk - although we'd thought we were doing 5k, it was just the little Family Walk. Ah, well.

That was short enough to let us run off to GoodFriends for brunch, and from there to the local Farmrer's market, where we picked up some absolutely fantastic apples and pears from a vendor we'd enjoyed last week. After that, it was off to the Metaphysical Expo.

This was kinda cool, really. Lots of different vendors selling magick stuff - crystals, dolls, paintings, tshirts, tarot decks, and so on. (Actually, not as many tarot decks as I thought.) It was all facinating to look through, and Tammy found a neat Tshirt and a chinese lamp that she liked, whereas I got a nice bookmark with egyptian hieroglyphics on it. After that, it was finally time for home.

My biweekly Buffy game went very well - a halloween episode, and I'm helping to run the party for our characters. Luckily the internet connection decided to wait until that was done before going down, which left us to watch the Animatrix, which I thought was overall a very interesting mix of episodes, although I think 'Program' is the best of them all.

Boy, I get wordy, don't I?

Damn! I think that Metaphysical Expo was the one we wanted to hit this year, but didn't know what it was called... Sheesh - great pagan's we are... Oh well...

I'm glad you found us though - next year it will be better!

Congrats on the weight loss! The XL t-shirts fit you guys well :-)

Yeah, it did fit us well, didn't it?

The Mexpo was pure chance on our part - we don't really hang out much in pagan circles, but saw an ad for it on tv and thought it sounded interesting.

Saw a Wizard of Oz tarot I'm considering getting, but since it was from a store near our house (Nic Nac Nook), I decided to continue to consider it, and go by and visit the store soon.
