Weekend this and that
Aug. 12th, 2003 07:59 amWell, things are continuing well on the weight-loss front with me losing another pound point six, bringing me to a grand total of 82 down, or about 279 total. I'm really looking good, if I may say so myself. I'd attach a pic of myself, but I'm unsure where to host it. I keep my web pages on yahoo/geocities, but they don't like it when you link an image directly to a page. I guess I could upload a pic and put it on a page, and throw a link to a page here, but it's not something I can do easily from work.
Sunday was pretty fun too. We went to an all-you-can-eat chinese place, where I managed to eat only ten or twelve points of food - astonishing, but somehow I don't *need* to eat three plates of meat and rice anymore. Knock *me* down with a feather.
After that we stopped across the parking lot. There's a hobby store nearby - Hobbytown USA - and they were using a big chunk of the (admittedly oversized) parking lot to run races for remote-control cars, both gas and electric powered. It was cool for a bit to sit there and watch the cars zip around... you could see the entire convoluted track from anywhere, and it was free. After that we ducked into the store itself and Tammy bought a puzzle.
We then dropped Tammy's car off for an oil change, picked up some cones from TCBY (who thankfully take checks from people who forgot to visit an ATM), and browsed the nearby antique market, which is one of those large establishments where people can rent a small 'stall' to stuff with things to sell. Tammy and I found a cute little cabinet for displaying small curios in for only forty dollars (and in good shape), and I found three of the four Miss Melville books in hardcover for four bucks each. They're nifty little books about a New York elderly woman who takes up assasination as a way to help keep ends meet. Yes, it sounds unusual, but the books are fun in a sort of early Mrs Pollifax way. I hope I can be nearly as cool when I'm in my 50's.
I'm still trying to work on my games for Tacticon, but there's so many distractions that it's difficult. I need to focus down and work on them. Luckily I've still got the two days off next week that I thought i was going to use to go to Las Vegas, so that's some time I can use to get them out. At least with the Buffy game I don't have to make up characters.
Later this week I've got a Physical - my first in a long time. I'm going to sit down with him and figure out what my ideal weight is - I've been basing my work so far on Weight Watchers' standard goal of 180 pounds for me, but that may not entirely be a healthy goal for myself. Some of my friends here at work look to be in fine shape, and they're 220 or so.

Date: 2003-08-12 08:22 am (UTC)I've had people argue with me at work when I had managed to make 220 briefly that I looked perfectly fine.
Of course, weight rests well on my body frame, so they didn't realize that I weigh as much as I do. (just got back to 230, and moving downward). Nonetheless, I know for my height and weight, ideal is down about...yes, 180. (checked the charts). At 220, I wasn't obese, but I was still overweight.
In any event, congratulations! You've come a long way.
