Another message from the wagon...
May. 25th, 2003 03:00 pmHi folks.
Well, it seems that I'm only updating about once a week right now. For a while there I was managing twice or three times a week, but I seem to be either a lot more busy these days or a lot more tired. Or both. It could be both.
The Matrix Reloaded was fun. I wouldn't mind catching it again sometime soon, but I'm sure it'll be around for a few months in the theaters. I've just got to keep my eyes open for a good time. The baseball game was interesting. The seats were fantastic, and after a little searching we were able to find food that wasn't horrendously bad for us. I had a turkey wrap, and my wife had a sandwich of some sort. The turkey wrap had a bit of spicy mayo in it, but at least it wasn't fried up on a grill.
The game didn't go quite as well. The rockies picked up a run in the first couple of innings, held it at 1-0 for a while, and then the Expos picked up another run to tie it. At the end of the eighth inning we had to start for home, because Tammy had work Saturday morning, but apparently the expos picked up another three or four runs after we left.
I'm not the world's biggest baseball fan, but I do wish the Rockies would put in the effort to win a game when I put in the effort to show up in person to watch one. :)
Otherwise, last weekend was largely spent on some yard maintenance- due to a problem with the mower, we really hadn't mowed the lawn in a long time. Like, since last fall. So the grass had gotten pretty high. I worked it down, though, and this weekend I've been finishing it, spending a big chunk of time yesterday mowing most of it down, and then today I went over some parts that were sticking up again (where it had been pushed down rather than mowed) and the really out-of-the-way spots, like behind the shed. Back before we had the shed built, that area didn't grow anything - I guess it was too unprotected from the sun. Now that the Shed's there, it grows all around.
Weight loss has continued to go well. On Thursday I got on the scale and discovered that I now weight 298.8 pounds - below 300! Woo! Woo! I am the man! Woo! I don't think I've weighed this since freaking college. (And, in fact, my Mom's going to bring me my college suit to see if it fits.) I feel good! Next 'way-station' in my weight loss is 75 pounds - that's when I get a new congratulatory magnet from Weight Watchers.
I keep waiting to hit a plateau, but I keep not hitting it. I'm really starting to think that I've always had the fast metabolism that I've wanted to have, but I was eating too much and not getting enough activity to get any benefit from it. Now that I'm eating well and exercising, my metabolism is on the job and stripping pounds away.
I've been spending time at this great site: Dotti's Weight Loss Zone, which has a chat-room, a forum, and lots of information to help with losing weight. Among other things, it includes points calculated for WW for a whole bunch of restaurants - I load them up in my PDA and take 'em along.
I feel good. :)

Date: 2003-05-25 05:03 pm (UTC)Hubby says that I am sposed to tell you "I know how hard it is to lose weight, and your accomplishment inspires me." Hubby's goal is more to get in better shape and get healthier, due to family history with diabetes and heart disease and other assorted nasties. That, and he wants to go to Firefighter rookie school.
But again, congrats on getting below the 300 mark!! *does happy dance with you*
And hubby and I both giggled about your thing with the Rockies game I'm not the world's biggest baseball fan, but I do wish the Rockies would put in the effort to win a game when I put in the effort to show up in person to watch one.
*giggles*
