Busy Month
Sep. 8th, 2008 08:44 amLife's been getting away with me lately.
Right now the biggest thing in my life is my wife, Tammy, who is going to have a gastric bypass operation next week. We're looking forward to it, but it's also a big change in our lives – Tammy's going to be eating next to nothing for a month or so, and along with that we'll be making small meals for myself. I'm hoping that the lack of food combined with Tammy's gradual increase in activity will combine to help me loose some weight as well. Happily, other than high cholesterol and my weight, the Doctor says I'm in good shape.
Other things going on include Nan Desu Kan, which approaches rapidly at the end of the week. I'm working in the staff con suite again, helping feed our hungry hordes of staffers, which is nice in some ways (somewhat low impact) and not in others (isolated from convention). I'm thinking next year I'm going to try and work at changing my area.
And then in addition to all that, later this month my Mother arrives for a visit on the same day I get to report for Jury Duty... yeah, we'll see how that shakes out. Generally I like the idea of jury duty – I get to do something different for a few days, and I like different. But the timing somewhat sucks. However, Tammy points out that the juror number I have is pretty high, and she remembers that when she's called in the night before in the past, they've requested people show up by number – so, if they don't need many juries, I may not have to show up.
So, with all that going on, this last weekend was designated 'Clean up this Mess' weekend. I'm pretty happy with it – I cleaned off the blue chair and it's ottoman, the table (except for the boardgames, as the table got designated emergency boardgame storage until we work out what to do with them), and even the wrapping supplies from last Christmas.
Yes, last Christmas. Stop looking at me that way.
Found a bunch of neat stuff I'd forgotten about. I'm glad I wasn't working too hard to find that fourth volume of Gunsmith Cats, for one – I already had one.
Looking forward to this weekend, but I hope we can get a lot of work done this week...
