Ugh. Dragging myself out of bed this morning was *murder*. I was up a bit too late last night after having forced myself to bed at 10pm all week, and my body did not want to move. But move I eventually did, and Tammy and I forced ourselves out of the house and downtown for breakfast.

Breakfast was large, filling, and late - I had the Supreme Breakfast Burrito, which was on sale - and then we drove up to where I park for free for work and walked over to the Sakura Festival, which is this weekend in Denver. We wandered through the festival slowly, trying to cheat the sunshine. Tammy had brought a parasol we'd found while cleaning up (see last entry), and used it to keep the sun off of her fair skin, and I mostly tried to stay in the shade. A number of the booths were still setting up - we turned out to be early for the festival - but there was plenty of interesting things to see. The Japanese bookseller had a bunch of Usagi yojimbo graphic novels, which I looked over but didn't think I could afford right then. There was a Hawaiian stall as well, with jewelry and books, where Tammy picked up a small item for her father, and I picked up a book of Hawaiian origami and some interesting-looking paper. I also got an interesting back of the neck cooler - it's some sort of chemical sponge beads in a fabric cover that keeps the back of the neck cool. I found it very effective during the day - I felt much cooler than I usually do.

After that we wandered down a few blocks to Larimer square, where they're having a chalk-on-street festival, various companies sponsoring folks to spend their day in the sun scribing chalk paintings onto the street. It was early in the festival, having started an hour or two before, so mostly what we saw were the first hints of how cool it's going to look like later - we're going to have to come back later today or tomorrow to have a look at the completed artworks.

A lot of walking - my feet and legs were sore on the way back, but as I said, the neck thing really kept me from being a sweating pile, which was very nice. Now I'm relaxing at home and soaking in the AC... ah, summer.
