Fifteen Geek Movies to See Before You Die...

Here's an interesting link to a list of fifteen geek movies to see before you die, and why:

Generally I agree with it, although I think they've left out Blade Runner, Aliens, and Sneakers. Galaxy Quest is almost on the list - it's definately very good, but it doesn't feel quite as important to me as the fifteen he listed and the three additional ones I would consider necessary.

Hmm... I've seen
  • The Matrix
  • Serenity
  • 12 Monkeys
  • Monty Python and the Holy Grail (which disappointed me after much hype from high school classmates)
  • Office Space
  • The Day the Earth Stood Still

I've been aware of, with the thought "I should watch that some time,"
  • The Fifth Element
  • War Games
  • Blade Runner
  • The Andromeda Strain (watched the first half hour or so but then had to leave)

My boyfriend has been trying to get me to watch Army of Darkness for the longest time.

I'm surprised Star Wars didn't make the list.

Apparently he didn't mention Star Wars because he figured everyone in the US had definately seen it already.

    No Princess Bride?

Some of his choices I agree with, others are just WTF?

If STIV gets in there, Galaxy Quest should be several steps above it.

I'll have to think about my own nominations, but for the most part they'd be different than his.
