Also, re: haircuts. I'm pretty sure there are older customers, or solitary, lonely people, who go to them just to get that human contact. There is something incredibly relaxing about having a person do stuff to your hair. I love getting my hair colored for just that reason, it's going to get played with for a good long time. And I always pay for the extra wash. ^_^
