Haircuts and Job Interviews

Considering how much I enjoy receiving a hair cut, it's almost surprising how rarely I'd take them before my weight loss. I suspect it's part of my entire distate for my looks then - I wasn't going to look any better with hair long or short, so why bother?

But I do enjoy getting a haircut - the comfortable chair, the quiet surroundings of a salan, the gentle pressure of the stylist's hands on my head as she moves around and trims my hair. Normally I could almost fall asleep during it, and last night - after having spent the day with a cold at a developer's conference - I had to fight the impulse to drop asleep.

Normally I wouldn't have bothered, but I'd arranged an interview with a recruiting agency for Friday morning, and I wanted to look my best. I hadn't gotten any face-to-face interviews lately, and I'd let my hair get a bit too long for interviewing with.

And it was a good thing, too. Once I got home (and cleaned up the broken plate the cats had knocked to the floor), I checked the answering machine and found that the company that they were recruiting for wanted to see me soonest - which meant Friday morning. I hurridly called the cell phone number I had for my recruiter, and she quickly got me set up and made sure I had everything I needed for my appointment.

And it went well. I got up early, dressed up as nicely as I can, and headed down past the DTC to the interview. The company sounds fantastic, and the job seems really interesting. I tried to push my enthusiasm at them as best I can - hopefully they caught it. The interview lasted for over two hours, so I've got to hope that's a good sign.

Cross fingers and hope!
